There are many books that speak to “how to use Excel” to do statistics, data analysis and Six Sigma, but they don’t ask “Why use Excel?” The answer: to achieve breakthrough improvements in speed, quality, productivity and profitability. That’s what companies want—the result of data analysis, not data analysis itself. This webinar’s presenter, Jay Arthur, has used Excel to find million-dollar improvement opportunities and has helped companies save over $50 million. Jay is a Six Sigma expert and one foot in Excel; he knows how to use Excel to find the invisible low-hanging fruit in companies. This webinar is for business men and women who use Excel to analyze performance and who seek to identify opportunities for improvement. Job titles include: CFO, manager, and data analyst. The Six Sigma Belts may also benefit from this webinar.

Software projects are often strategic business transformation initiatives within the organization. Given the high stakes involved, one of the approaches for successful project delivery is formulating an objective stakeholder driven measurement model for improved decision making. The Goal-Question-Metric (GQM) framework is an objective and stakeholder driven measurement model with eight measures for hybrid COTS (Commercial off-the-shelf) and bespoke types of software projects. The eight measures are Function Points (FPs), Lines of Code (LOC), McCabe’s Cyclomatic Complexity (VG), Cost Performance Index (CPI), Schedule Performance Index (SPI), Sigma level (Cpk), Defect Density (DD) and Defect Removal Efficiency (DRE) pertaining to the five project attributes namely size, complexity, schedule, cost and quality. Who do You Trust? Beware of Your Brain

    September 30, 2014
    11:00 AM - 12:30 PM EST

    Presented by: Linda Rising

Cognitive scientists tell us that we are more productive and happier when our behavior matches our brain’s hardwiring—when what we do and why we do it matches the way we have evolved to survive over tens of thousands of years. One problematic behavior humans have is that we are hardwired to instantly decide who we trust. And we generally aren't aware of these decisions—it just happens. In this webinar, Linda Rising explains that this hardwired “trust evaluation” can get in the way of working well with others. Pairing, the daily stand-up, and close communication with the customer and others outside the team go a long way to overcome our instant evaluation of others. As Linda helps you gain a better understanding of this mechanism in your behavior and what agile processes can do to help, you are more likely to build better interpersonal relationships and create successful products.
